
HARTFORD, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - American radio personality and conservative political commentator Rush Hudson Limbaugh III has died at age 70.
Limbaugh died of complications from terminal lung cancer, his wife Kathryn Adams Limbaugh announced today on the air.
"It is with profound sadness," she said, "I must share with you directly, that our beloved Rush, my wonderful husband, passed away this morning due to complications from lung cancer."
Limbaugh revealed he was battling advanced lung cancer in early February of last year. In October 2020, Limbaugh announced that his stage 4 lung cancer had progressed "in the wrong direction."
Premiere Networks, syndicator of "The Rush Limbaugh Show," says it plans several weeks of tribute shows and are calling them "The Limbaugh Legacy."
The talk radio host is known as an outspoken voice of American conservatism who connected with audiences across the nation.
His weekday radio show first aired in 1988. Throughout the decades, Limbaugh has shaped the political conversation in the United States as a strong voice for the Republican party.
