Senator Ted Cruz is defending President Donald Trump's Truth Social post showing a sign of 'Mission Accomplished' when it comes to the war in Iran.
Sen. Cruz says there are several different missions when it comes to Iran.
He spoke Sunday on NBC's Meet the Press.
"There are multiple missions," Cruz told NBC's Kristen Welker. "If you look at the initial mission that Trump administration laid out, which is to degrade and eliminate Iran's military capacity, then I think the answer is unequivocally yes."
Cruz added that he wants the long-term objective be regime collapse.
He says he is urging that the Trump Administration arm the protestors in Iran and avoid any American troops on the ground.
"President Trump and the Trump administration to arm the protestors, the people of Iran, arm the Kurds and let the protestors remove this regime from power," Cruz said. "Not American boots on the ground, but the Iranian people."
