Police were called to an under-construction home last week after someone called about a “suspicious person,” but when they arrived, they caught a teacher having sex with a minor student.
The Comal County Sheriff’s Office shared that 51-year-old Davenport High School art teacher Jennifer Massey was arrested last Thursday when deputies made the discovery.
The officers responded to the home where suspicious activity was reported at around 6 p.m., where they discovered her with a male juvenile, the sheriff’s office said.
The deputies said the two were “engaged in sexual contact” based on their preliminary investigation. Massey was then charged with improper relationship between educator and student, a second-degree felony.
She is currently being held at the Comal County Jail.
KENS 5 reported that the school district where Massey teaches condemned the alleged behavior and said she has been placed on leave.
“The district does not condone inappropriate relationships between teachers and students. Ensuring the safety and security of our students is our top priority,” Comal ISD said in a statement to the station. “We will continue to cooperate fully with law enforcement during their investigation.”
In a message to parents from the district, officials said the “district learned that last night Mrs. Massey was charged with having an improper relationship with a student.”
“Mrs. Massey was placed on administrative leave this morning, and she will not be returning to Davenport High School,” the message said.
