The discovery of a headless body led to a Nevada woman being charged with decapitating the father of her children and putting his head in the trash.
And police suspect his head was carted away by sanitation workers.
According to a press release, officers were called at 8:40 a.m. on August 7 to a home in the 2000 block of Pala Dura Drive in Henderson, Nev., by a person reporting that they had located a deceased relative.
Officers arrived on scene to discover a 47-year-old man dead and his head missing. PEOPLE reported his corpse was in bed next to bottles of ammonia and bleach. A week later, Devyn Michaels, 45, was charged with open murder in the case, with the victim identified as Johnathan Willette, who owned a moving company in Las Vegas and was known as the “Vegas Moving Guy.”
"As this is an open investigation, no further details will be released at this time," police said, noting this is the sixth homicide in the city so far this year.
Local news outlets reported that Michaels allegedly told police in an interview that Willette was abusive and had tried to get her to perform a sex act on him before she hit him on the head with a wooden stick.
Michaels is currently in custody at Clark County Jail and is set to be arraigned sometime this week, 8 News Now reported.
