(Farmington, Conn./WTIC) - The American Red Cross is in need of blood donors.

The organization is playing catch up due to the number of blood drives canceled across the country as result of last week's winter storms.

Drives are being rescheduled in more than 30 states including Connecticut, says state Red Cross chapter spokeswoman Jocelyn Hillard.

She says those interested in donating can contact them at 1-800 RED CROSS, by logging on to redcrossblood.org, or by downloading the Red Cross app.

Hillard says all blood types are needed, particularly Type-O, which can be used in an emergency when a person's blood type is unknown.
