One dead, one injured in Waterbury hit and run

(Waterbury, Conn./WTIC) - Waterbury police are investigating after they say two pedestrians were struck Monday night by a hit-and-run driver.

One of the victims later died, according to police.

Officers say they responded to an area of 900 Meriden Road just before 11:00 p.m.

Once on scene, they found the victims in the shoulder of the road.

One person had minor injuries and another was seriously injured.

Both were taken to area hospitals for treatment where one died.

Investigators say the two were hit by a gold or tan colored vehicle which fled the scene in an unknown direction.
