Audio: Parkville Market celebrates one year of food and fun

Billed as Connecticut's first food hall, all-local Parkville Market in Hartford was scheduled to open in May, 2020. The pandemic and its many related uncertainties were hitting hard.

Director of Operations Chelsea Mouta and her team opened up anyway, and it's paying off.


"The response has been overwhelming," says Mouta. "We've seen incredibly high traffic. After most folks started to be able to access vaccinations in March (2021), we saw a significant uptick in traffic and sales in April. Then in May, we estimate we had about 90,000 visitors, which is double our biggest month."

Parkville Market has scheduled a weekend-long first anniversary celebration. A ribbon cutting couldn't be held last year, so Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin will belatedly do the honors Friday at 4 pm.
