(Hartford, Conn.WTIC)-A measure before lawmakers calls for a contested election to be decided by the courts and not by lawmakers.
Supporters point to a contest in Darien in 2018. The winner was decided by 13 votes, with lawmakers ultimately declaring the victor. But 75 incorrect ballots were distributed. Lawmakers testified that ultimately the legislature is political and that's ultimately how decisions are framed and why the courts are a better destination.
The measure appeared before the Government Administration and Elections Committee.
