(Hartford, Conn. WTIC)-Meeting in Special Session, the state House and Senate have approved a resolution to extend Governor Ned Lamont's Emergency Powers for two additional months.

They were set to expire on the 20th of this month.

Republicans arguing in opposition said the move abdicates legislative power to the Governor.

They also argued that the state was in a good place with low positivity rates.

They argued that's another reason children shouldn't have to wear masks in school.

Senate President Martin Looney argued with the potential of the Delta Variant, the state is still not safe.
