(Hartford, Conn.WTIC)-The Chair of the legislature's Housing Committee called for passage of five measures to change what he characterized as a system of state policies that are rife with racial inequality.
Bandon McGee(D-Windsor/Hartford) says more than fifty years have passed since the passage of the Fair Housing Act and yet he says Connecticut faces many challenges.
The measures include right to counsel during eviction proceedings, sealing of eviction records, and housing opportunities for those who have served time.
Advocates say the state is better served, as are families, who have access to safe and stable housing.
