Gov. Ned Lamont easily won the Democratic nomination for governor, doubling the number of votes for challenger Josh Elliott. Luke Bronin defeated 14-term incumbent John Larson in a historic race in the First Congressional District, and Michael Goldstein and Chris Shea won the Republican nominations in the 4th and 5th districts.
Connecticut party primary races concluding on Election Day, Tues., Aug. 11. As of 11 pm Tuesday, the Secretary of the State’s office reported 22% turnout among Democrats and 9% among Republicans (who did not have a statewide race).

Lamont will face Republican nominee Ryan Fazio.
The AP called the decisive victory for Lamont shortly after polls closed in Connecticut at 8 pm. He led by more than 2-to-1 with 80% of the votes counted.
