
The following are some of the results from a series of primary elections held in Connecticut on Tuesday. Winners advance to the general election on Nov. 4. The Secretary of the State’s office reports that statewide turnout in the Democratic primaries was about 20% and turnout for Republicans was about 23%.
Bloomfield: In the Democratic race for Town Council seats, Slate A, led by Mayor Tony Harrington, defeated Slate B, which included former Mayor Syd Schulman.
Hamden: Longtime Board of Ed member Adam Sendroff won a 5-way Democratic primary for mayor with 47% of the vote. Dominique Baez was the runner-up with 22%. Sendroff will face Republican Jonathan Katz, Green Party candidate Patricia Vener-Saavedra and petitioning candidate Jameka Jefferies in November.
New Britain: Incumbent John McNamara (194 votes) and Luz Ortiz-Luna (161) will advance by winning a 3-way Democratic primary for two positions as aldermen, beating incumbent Neil Connors (140).
New Haven: In another low-turnout primary, three Democrats were chosen for the Board of Alders: Yale junior Elias Theodore (290 votes), incumbent Angel Hubbard (203) and Leland Moore (295).
Norwalk: Barbara Smyth (51.3%) won the Democratic primary for mayor, defeating Darlene Young (48.7%).
Oxford: Longtime First Selectman George Temple won a Republican primary challenge, beating Jeffrey Luff.
Waterbury: Republicans chose Michael Grosso, Bryan McEntee, Kelly Zimmermann, George Noujaim and Jack Alseph for the Board of Aldermen.
Wolcott: Paul D’Angelo (321 votes) won the Republican primary for mayor, beating James Paolino (300 votes).
