
Shelton, Conn./WTIC Radio - Police in Shelton have arrested a New Haven man in connection with the carjacking of an elderly woman after she left a supermarket in April.
Detectives say the 78-year-old woman had just left a Big Y store on Bridgeport Avenue April 7 when a vehicle waiting in the parking lot followed the victim out of the plaza.
They say the suspect vehicle intentionally struck the victim's and when she got out to inspect the damage, one of the suspects got in the vehicle and took off.
Eighteen-year-old Devonte Beamon and a 16-year-old co-conspirator are under arrest after investigators say they purchased items with the victim's credit card which was in the vehicle.
Beamon faces charges of robbery, conspiracy, and other offenses.
Bond was set at $50,000 and he's due in court Monday.
