HARTFORD, CONN. WTIC)-The Connecticut Legislature meets in special session next week to extend Governor Ned Lamont's emergency pandemic powers.
The House meets on Monday and the Senate on Tuesday. Senate President Martin Looney (D-New Haven) expects the powers will be extended, despite Republican opposition.
Once Lamont's powers get extended, the Governor plans on introducing eleven or twelve executive orders, all related to the public health issue, Looney said.

"The leadership of the General Assembly has an opportunity to revoke any of the Governor's executive orders regarding his emergency powers under a statue approved last spring. This provides more leadership oversight than it ever had before," Looney said.
In July the legislature extended the Governor's powers to include September. Looney declined to elaborate further on the new executive orders because, according to him, they're still being finalized.
