(Hartford, Conn.WTIC)- On the steps of the Capitol, the 32-member Black and Puerto Rican Caucus announced their eight pillars of legislative priorities.
They're based on advocacy for social, economic and environmental justice.
They include voting reform, voting expansion, housing equity, education reform equity, economic and job development, transportation, environmental justice and police accountability.
Speakers said only eight percent of the minority community has received the COVID vaccine and that they'll fight to increase those numbers.
They also support legalization of marijuana and say it could be a huge jobs provider, especially for those with adverse criminal histories.
