WASHINGTON, DC (WTIC radio)
Some positive news on the economic front here in Connecticut. The newly named U.S. Department of War ordered by President Trump has awarded a $670 million dollar contract to Pratt & Whitney to work on F135 engines that power F-35 fighter jets.
The Hartford Courant reporting the so-called contract modification was disclosed on the War Department’s website. Pratt’s and Whitney's facility in East Hartford will handle 97 percent of the work, with the project expected to be completed in December 2028.
In a joint statement U.S. representatives Rosa DeLauro, John Larson and Joe Courtney said the contract boosts the state’s economy and protects union jobs.
