The accident last October involving the submarine USS Connecticut was preventable, according to the results of a US Navy investigation.
It was back in October that the submarine U-S-S Connecticut suffered some damage while passing by an underwater ridge in the South China Sea.
That accident, the Navy command now says, was preventable. And, it could have been much worse, says Navy Command. Eleven people suffered minor injuries.
But the report says a grounding at this speed could have caused more serious injuries and fatalities -- even the loss of the sub. Says the review, the sub's
commanding officer failed to find and mark some underrwater hazards near the grounding.
