HARTFORD, CONN. WTIC)-Connecticut Attorney General William Tong announced today he has filed an appeal regarding Connecticut's claims against Purdue Pharma and the Sackler family.

Purdue Pharma manufactures OxyContin, a major contributor to the Opioid crisis.

Tong calls the ruling by the Judge in the United States Bankruptcy Court in the Southern District of New York an unprecedented an unacceptable overreach.

Under the Purdue plan Tong says Connecticut will receive between $20-and $40-million dollars.

The plan calls for the Sackler family to pay $4.3 billion over a nine-year period. Tong and other Attorneys General note the Sackler family has made at least 11 billion in profits. They claim the crisis cost millions of  lives and damages of more than two trillion dollars.
