This is not a pedestrian friendly year for Connecticut. The state counts at least 61 pedestrians killed so far this year.
That ties the most recent record, set two years ago. Connecticut has not suffered more pedestrian losses than that in several decades. Too many people are driving drunk, drugged or distracted says Eric Jackson with the Connecticut Transportation Institute.
Drivers need to remember to keep an eye out for pedestrians, he says. Something pedestrians can do -- wear lighter colors to be more visible.
