(HARTFORD, CONN. WTIC)-Connecticut prison guards say they face an impending crisis with a lack of staffing and as many as four hundred eligible for retirement next year.
The guards say they're subjected to working multiple double-shifts to accommodate the employee shortage. They say most guards work eighty hours a week, lack sleep and face potential dangerous situations.
The Department of Correction employees are asking for help from the Lamont Administration. One guard says the administration isn't budging and in fact asked for concessions.
