(Hartford, Conn. WTIC)-For the first time, a former Hartford Archdiocese Priest who worked in the early 80's has been outed as a clergy sexual abuser.
The Hartford Archdiocese found the accusations as credible against Father Kenneth Bonadies and settled the case for an amount in the low six figures.
The victim was between 14-17 years of age when the sexual abuse occurred between 1981-85.
The investigation discovered Father Bonadies abused the teenager more than one hundred times at East Catholic High School in Manchester, his home in Eastford, the rectory of St. Bartholomew's Parish in Manchester and at other locations. The victim's lawyer, MItchell Garabedian, says Bonadies received treatment for four years, probably for pedophilia, before arriving in the Hartford Archdiocese. Father Bonadies was a teacher at East Catholic High School. He's now retired, living in Florida.
The Hartford Archdiocese says it has a longstanding policy not to comment on specific legal cases or settlements.
