(NEW HAVEN,CONN. WTIC)-About one thousand freshman and sophomores move into Southern Connecticut State University dorms today as the campus introduces a new Covid-prevention procedure.
President Joe Bertolino says the University is employing a scheduled format for the students to move in. The students are required to be vaccinated and wear masks at least indoors. Bertolino says the students had to show proof of vaccinations or reasons for exemption prior to moving in today. He says the University has high compliance in that area.
Bertolino says dorm capacity is about 70-percent this year, housing fewer students than last year. He also says some dorms have been transitioned from doubles to singles.
Bertolino says Southern is primarily a commuter campus, able to accommodate about two thousand students in the dorms.
Juniors and seniors move in Wednesday with classes starting the following day.
