(Guilford, Conn. WTIC)-Governor Ned Lamont, using the backdrop of Jacob's Beach in Guilford, signed the Climate Change Adaptation Act.
DEEP Commissioner Katie Dykes says it authorizes municipalities to establish municipal storm water authorities to address storm water runoff and flooding. That positions municipalities to raise revenue to invest in releilience projects.
Dykes says it also expands Connecticut's Green Bank for infrastructure and resilience projects, positioning the state and municipalities to receive more federal funding.
Officials hope these steps will better protect Connecticut's coastlines and inlands from storms like Irene and Sandy.
