(Hartford, Conn. WTIC)-Governor Lamont has increased funding to the summer youth employment program, bringing the total compensation to 7.7 million dollars.
The money is coming from the Federal Cares Act.
The money will benefit transportation, food support and other programs to decrease obstacles to participation.
Former participants called it a transformational experience, helping them charter a path to their future.
Advocates, at a Hartford press conference, say the funding arrives at a crucial time with disruption, isolation and economic change.
