(Hartford, Conn .WTIC)-Connecticut Area Health District Directors sent a message to Senator Richard Blumenthal
during a roundtable discussion: We need more funding.
The Senator met with them to discuss the vaccine rollout. Connecticut has received about $51 milion for that effort,
so far vaccinating about 75-thousand residents.
Michael Pascucilla of the Eastern Shore Health District, which serves Branford, North Branford and East Haven said it's
not about just receiving a pot of money to get through the next event. "That's how it's been... we're not funded.
Cimate change is here and we have some major challenges ahead of us. In the end we're the ones with relationships
with our community, receiving the calls."
Robert Rubo runs the Torrington Area Health District. " Although some grant money came down, we were trying to build
our capacity while were responding and that made it very difficult. While were able to hire more people, we needed
to take valuable staff time to train those individuals. while trying to respond."
Blumenthal called the federal vaccine rollout, "abysmal, flawed and failing."
