(Hartford, Conn. WTIC)-Starting July first, single-use plastic bags are banned in Connecticut.
The President of the Connecticut Food Association, Wayne Pesce, says compliance by shoppers is already very high, estimated at a shade under ninety percent.
Shoppers also have the options of purchasing a paper bag for ten cents or bringing their own bags.
Pesce reminds consumers to disinfect and clean your own bags and to store them in a dry place.
Pesce also says the ban is beneficial to the environment.
