Hartford, Conn. WTIC)-State lawmakers are meeting tomorrow to address a recent uptick in juvenile crime, including incidents recently in New Britain, Enfield and Glastonbury.
The meeting is scheduled at Noon Wednesday.
House Speaker Matt Ritter says he's looking for answers from stakeholders, including law enforcement officials. He also wants answers why in the New Britain case, a juvenile arrested twelve times was able to steal a car from Hartford and fatally strike a jogger in New Britain.
Ritter says the actual cases of juvenile car thefts are down, but the lethality of the crimes need to be addressed. He says the idea is to take a scalpel and not a sledge hammer to the entire criminal code.
