(Hartford, Conn. WTIC)-Fran Rabinowitz, the Executive Director of the Connecticut Association of Public School Superintendents says the pandemic taught us that teachers and students need to be reunited in the classroom as school starts this fall.
Rabinowitz does envision a role still for remote learning. She says for instance school districts could share a foreign language teacher.
The state has received 1.2 billion dollars in federal funds. But Rabinowitz worries about the fiscal cliff in 2024. She also says school districts need guidance from the C-D-C and CT Department of Public Health on mask-wearing and other mitigating strategies like co-horting and quarantining. She says all are important factors necessary for better planning.
Students 12 and older need to be vaccinated and right now Rabinowitz says masks need to be worn inside school buildings.
