(Hartford, Conn. WTIC)-The issue of food insecurity increases during the summer and the CT Food Bank/Food Share hopes three options help the cause

President and CEO  Jason Jakubowski says the organization offers seven hundred food pantries and one hundred mobile emergency drive-thrus.

It also used federal American Rescue Plan money for emergency  distribution sites throughout the state. Jakubowski says that effort alone fed 41-thousand  families.

He says the demand increases especially for children lacking access to mealsin school.

Jakubowski says the effort by his organization cost at least 75-thousand a week. Donations can be made to either ctfoodbank.org or food share.org.
