SOUTHINGTON, Conn. (WTIC Radio)—Southington police are providing more details on charges against a local man arrested Sunday, accused of firing dozens of shots around town. No one was hurt.

Authorities took Floyd Douglas Gollnick, 74, of the Plantsville neighborhood of Southington into custody after police said he tried to flee in a vehicle.

State police also believe Gollnick fired shots at the State Capitol in Hartford on Sunday, blowing three bullet holes through glass,

At about 6:43 p.m. Sunday, Southington police responded to a "shots fired" report at 2344 Meriden Waterbury Turnpike. According to police, the caller reported 16 shots fired at the residence.

Another call reporting "shots fired" came in at around 7:13 p.m. from a resident at 376 North Star Drive. This time, police said, the caller reported about 4 to 5 shots.

At 7:39 p.m., Southington Police got an alarm from Hartford HealthCare Group at 70 Meriden Avenue about a "glass break."

According to police, a fourth location was reported at 8:54 p.m. from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 750 Meriden Waterbury Turnpike. However, police said the shooting is believed to have occurred earlier.

When investigating the alarm at the Hartford HealthCare Group location, officers found a man standing outside a black Chevrolet Silverado parked behind the office with a long rifle, police said.

As police officers tried to establish a perimeter around the building, shots were heard being fired from the suspect's location, officials said. Afterward, officers said they witnessed the suspect drive away.

Southington began pursing the vehicle into Middletown with the assistance of Connecticut State Police, Meriden Police and Middletown Police. According to police, the vehicle was stopped while on the Arrigoni Bridge in Middletown.

When arresting the suspect, police said they seized a rifle from the front passenger seat. Two Southington police vehicles sustained damage during the pursuit, but no one was reported injured.

On Monday, May 31, Southington police identified three additional locations: 156 School Street where investigators determined that 12 to 15 shots were fired into the residence, 216 Flanders Road where 16 bullet holes were discovered in the garage door of the home and Polumbo's Service Center at 828 Meriden Waterbury Turnpike where officers found 12 bullet holes.

Gollnick was formally arraigned at a hospital on Thursday, June 3, for the shootings at North Star Drive and Meriden Avenue with numerous charges, including Reckless Endangerment in the First Degree, Criminal Use of a Firearm and Engaging in Pursuit.

He was detained on a combined $750,000 court set bond, police said, and turned over to the Department of Corrections. He's scheduled to appear in New Britain Court (GA-15) on July 15.

Additional charges are anticipated as investigations into the other shootings continue.
