Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin says as acts of rememberance, one thousand candles will be placed on the pond in Bushnell Park this Saturday. Further Bronin says when the daffodils bloom, white, wooden hearts will adorn the city's Hope Gardens.
Whalen's family still grieve's their mother's death, as she died alone in a hospital bed. Family members say Covid robbed them of a chance to say goodbye and to bring them closure.
Bronin says the virus is still with us claiming lives. He says we're not out of the woods yet, and we have to be careful, get vaccinated and follow the social protocols.
