(Hartford, Conn. WTIC)- Mental health and substance abuse providers are seeking an increase in funding, arguing the new state budget deprives them of any increases.

Gian Carl Casa, the President and CEO of CT Community Nonprofit Alliance says the state is in good financial shape and these providers have gone a decade with any increase in Medicaid funding.


Other stakeholders argue they received no reimbursement from the  state for Covid supplies, while, in addition battling the Opiate crisis.

Gary Steck, Chief Executive Officer of Wellmore Health in Waterbury, says at current funding, his staff would only receive an increase of about  fifteen dollars a week before taxes.

The providers are hoping the legislature will reconsider funding during the special session.
