A Yale graduate student has been shot and killed in New Haven. Police say Kevin Jiang, 26, of West Haven, was a victim of homicide.
Police say they found Jiang Saturday night in the area of Nash St. and Lawrence St.
They responded to several 9-1-1 calls around 8:30 pm to find the victim shot to death.tke
In a statement, Yale University President Peter Salovey identified the victim as Jiang, a graduate student in the Yale School of the Environment.
New Haven Police Cpt. Anthony Duff issued this statement on Sunday afternoon:
"New Haven Police Department Major Crimes detectives are continuing to investigate last night’s homicide. The fatal shooting occurred on Lawrence Street between Nicoll Street and Nash Street. Deceased is Kevin Jiang, age 26, who most recently resided in West Haven, Connecticut. At the time of his death, Jiang was a graduate student attending Yale School of Environment as a member of the class of 2022."
