(Hamden, Conn./WTIC) - Hamden police are looking for the suspect who pulled off an armed robbery at knifepoint in the wee hours of Monday morning.
Detectives say around 2:15 a.m., the lone suspect entered a Sam's food store on Whitney Avenue requesting to use the restroom.
Police say he then made his way behind the front counter and snatched several packs of cigarettes.
As the clerk attempted to intervene, police say the suspect pulled out a large knife and demanded cash from the register, shoving the clerk afterward and exiting the store.
Officers say the suspect fled in a vehicle south on Whitney Avenue. He was described as a white male, 30-to-40 years of age dressed in dark clothing.
There were no injuries reported.
