Another windstorm, more power outages

It was no Isaias, but the no-name rain and windstorm that ripped through Connecticut late Wednesday afternoon did some damage.

Eversource, under fire for its response to the summer tropical storm, peaked at about 27,000 customers without power as of 8 pm. That number was down to about 19,000 by 9 pm and 9,400 at 1 am Thursday.

Like Isaias, the storm brought down a lot of trees, limbs and power lines, closing numerous roads. Wednesday night, the Connecticut DOT reported Rte. 189 in Granby and Rte. 244 in Pomfret closed. Earlier in the evening, Rte. 510 in East Windsor was closed by a downed tree.
