Famous Sculpture at Yale to be restored

NEW HAVEN, Connecticut (WTIC radio)

Its been on the Yale University campus for decades and now its getting a facelift.
The renowned modern art sculpture "Lipstick Ascending On Caterpillar Tracks" first appeared on the Yale campus in 1969.
The Yale University Art Gallery announcing it will be fully restored thanks to a major arts conservation grant. The sculpture was a long time symbol of political protests and demonstrations.


Famed artist Claes Oldenberg who studied literature and art history at Yale designed the sculpture.

The restoration grant comes from the Bank of America Conservation Project, which funds over a dozen major art restoration projects a year.
