As the Yankees get closer to their reported deep dive into the organization, via a third party, C-Mac says the team’s captain will also play a big role in the direction of the franchise moving forward.
“Aaron Judge is as important a figure on the player’s side as there has been for the Yankees in their history,” C-Mac said. “I firmly believe no one else has had the ear of the owner the way this guy will have the ear of the owner. One, because George was too impetuous to really listen to one of his players. I think Hal is completely different. They just paid him a ton of money, they just made him the captain, the fans are obsessed with him, and he’s one of the best players in the league.
"He’s going to have say, and his word is going to be listened to.”
Judge told reporters after the Yanks were officially eliminated from playoff contention that “a lot of things need to be fixed” around the team, and given Steinbrenner’s key role in re-signing Judge, and his reported aggravation with the state of the team, C-Mac believes he will covet Judge’s opinion, including his support of Aaron Boone.
“If he tells this owner ‘Sorry, he’s our guy, it’s gonna be a problem if you let him go,’” C-Mac said. “He’s not gonna let him go. It’s that simple.”
