Boomer is all in on Luis Gil: 'That's the baseball I appreciate'
After watching Luis Gil mow down the Twins on Tuesday night and further his All-Star case, Boomer had a glowing review of the young Yankee righty, who has looked unhittable since coming back from Tommy John surgery.
“I want to know who his doctor was, because whoever fixed his elbow turned his guy into a bionic man,” Boomer said. “That’s the baseball that I appreciate. He was dealing and dominating the opponent. It was a flawless performance.”
Gil allowed just one hit and struck out six in six innings of work on Tuesday, and his ERA is now at 1.82. He is one of several storylines that have the Yankees out to the best record in baseball.
“The Yankees are on all cylinders right now,” Boomer said. “It is pedal to the metal…and he is so impressive right now. His ball is moving so much, and with so much speed…I was thoroughly impressed with him.”
