The Yankees stumbled into their current homestand having needed a borderline strike call to avoid a sweep at the hands of the second-place Rays in Tampa over the weekend, but have now won four straight, three against the Twins.
Sound familiar?
It should, according to Boomer and Gio, because the “doormat” Twins seem to always come to town whenever the Bombers need to right the ship and string together some wins.
“The Twins couldn’t have come at a better time for the Yankees,” Boomer said. “They seem to be like their doormat.”
The Yanks have used Minnesota as their own personal punching bag over the past two decades, and it’s happening again this week despite the Bombers missing nearly every main contributor in the lineup aside from Aaron Judge.
“It just goes to show you it really doesn’t matter who the Yankees are,” Gio said. “With those lineups [Wednesday], they’re going to beat the Twins in every single situation. Doesn’t matter what the year, who the players are, where the games are, just doesn’t matter. They are going to beat the Twins.”
