Boomer & Gio sound off on 'turnoff' Carlos Rodon: 'Impossible to enjoy watching pitch'
Boomer said there were some real positives for the Yankees to take away from their weekend series win over the Orioles, although there were also some clear negatives, with both the good and the bad coming from the starting rotation.
“Gerrit Cole was great. Luis Gil was great,” Boomer said. “I would say [Carlos] Rodon is an issue, [Marcus] Stroman is an issue, and [Nestor] Cortes is an issue.”
The Boomer and Gio crew agreed that the biggest issue of them all is Rodon, who lasted just four innings in Sunday’s series finale, ending his first half of the season with an ERA of 4.63.
“He is just impossible to enjoy watching pitch,” Gio said. “A gazillion pitches, a bad attitude. He’s just a turnoff.”
Jerry Recco and Boomer agreed, as Rodon’s temperament on the mound coupled with the bad results over his last six starts is not a good mix.
“You know how I say, as a Nets fan, it bothers me that Jalen Brunson is so likable?” Jerry said. “This guy is unlikable.”
“His actions in the dugout suck too,” Boomer said. “They have no other choice but to throw him out there. They’re paying him a ton of money.”
