Boomer: Can Aaron Boone just start being honest?

Aaron Boone told Talkin’ Yanks on Tuesday that Giancarlo Stanton was likely sensing a potential injury brewing in his lower body when he leisurely rounded third base in a viral incident against the Astros over the weekend.

For Boomer, it is remarks like those that make Boone a topic of frustration within Yankees Universe, as fans just want to hear more honesty rather than blatant protecting of the player, especially after an act that Boomer felt was inexcusable.

“This is what the Yankee fan doesn’t like about Aaron Boone,” Boomer said. “I know this, because I’m a Met fan, and I used to hate when Mickey Callaway would do this…I just wish Aaron Boone would say ‘We talked about this, that’s not what I expect as his manager, and that’s not what we expect as the Yankee organization.’

“Do you think Aaron Judge is in his right place to talk to Giancarlo Stanton? Do you think he would ever say something to him?”

Jerry doesn’t know if talking to Stanton would do any good, because he believes the oft-injured slugger is simply cooked, and if he has to be protected to this level, where he can only jog around the bases, then he might as well not play.

“This is not to be funny, but if he was a horse, you’d shoot it,” Jerry said. “He can’t perform. If he can’t run around third base, basically what you’re telling us is that one out of every 15 times he’s going to hit a home run, and other than that, he’s useless.”
