Boomer goes off on Gleyber Torres miscues: 'He drives me crazy'

Gleyber Torres drove in two runs with a big single on Sunday night, but was thrown out after wandering too far off first base as the throw came in from the outfield.

He also made an error on what would have been the final out of the game on what was a routine ground ball to second base.

Boomer has had enough of the Torres experience, and went off on the veteran infielder during Monday’s show.

“I swear to God, this drives me crazy, and this is where Aaron Boone screws up I think,” Boomer said. “You’re the New York Yankees. You are the epitome of what professional sports in this country is all about.

“If you’re proud to wear it, then play like you’re proud to wear it. Gleyber Torres drives me nuts…he gets a key hit and knocks in two runs, and what does he do? He gets stuck in some BS rundown where he just stops and they tag him out…he should have been on first base. Just stand there! Is it that freaking hard?”

Torres leads the league in errors as a second baseman, and has been often criticized for his lackadaisical play in the field and on the bases.
Sunday was no exception.

“That’s sloppy baseball. That’s why he drives me crazy,” Boomer said. “It looks like he doesn’t give a crap. And I know he does. I would think he loves playing second base for the Yankees.

“That is the epitome of not being what you should be when you’re wearing a Yankee uniform.”
