Papelbon tells truths on talk show, radar run readings
Jonathan Papelbon reminded us over the weekend that he isn't afraid of a challenge.
The first reminder came in the form of the former closer jumping in to help launch Red Sox' Winter Weekend by hosting a late-night talk show with the team's chief decision-makers.
Then came Saturday.
Appearing on the 'Baseball Isn't Boring' show with Rob Bradford, Papelbon agreed to a very intriguing $100 bet: Bradfo told the pitcher that if he could hit 85 mph or better on the radar gun - which was set up just about 30 feet from the WEEI stage - he would donate the money to the Jimmy Fund. But if Papelbon couldn't throw that hard, he would be the one donating.
What transpired was a lot of excitement, a big crowd, and ... 77 mph, 80 mph and 77 mph.
