Lou Merloni is tired of the anti-Red Sox bias.

In an impassioned rant to open up Merloni and Fauria Thursday, he railed against those in the media —including those on the other station — who are actively telling fans to stay away from the Red Sox.

“You’re shamed into not liking the Red Sox, because influential people in this city tell you that you shouldn’t,” Merloni said. “And you’re too dumb to realize there are agendas behind it all. Why don’t you sit back and watch a baseball team that is entertaining and is about to walk into playoffs, and actually tell yourself, ‘These guys are fun.’”

While attendance is down, Red Sox TV ratings on NESN are up 74% compared to last year, and 19% compared to 2019. Those numbers show people are still interested in this baseball team, despite the noise from the vocal minority.
