Jud Fabian might not be able to shake the Red Sox, after all.

The power-hitting outfielder from the University of Florida - who currently has hit the sixth-most homers (19) of any player in Div. 1 - was taken by the Red Sox in the second round (No. 40 overall) of last year's Major League Baseball Draft.

But Fabian chose not to sign with the Red Sox, who could only offer him just under $2 million or risk losing their first-round pick in 2022 due to going over the organization's bonus pool by more than five percent.

The decision by Fabian - who was viewed by many as one of the best power bats in the Draft - might have been swayed by the notion that the Orioles were reportedly ready to hand him over a $3 million signing bonus at Pick No. 41.

By not coming to terms with Fabian the Red Sox were awarded a compensatory pick - No. 41 overall - in this year's Draft.

Now it appears the Sox may have another shot at the senior outfielder.

According to at least one mock draft, the Red Sox could very well be in a position to select Fabian with their first overall pick, which sits at No. 24.

With the Gators this season, Fabian is hitting .259 with a 1.083 OPS and .647 slugging percentage. He has fanned 47 times in 170 at-bats, but also carries 50 walks.
