BT: Sean Casey much-needed change for Yankees team that is 'married to the analytics'

The Yankees officially have a new hitting coach in Sean Casey, and BT couldn’t be happier that the Bombers went against their own grain in finding a replacement for the recently fired Dillon Lawson.

“A complete soul-searching by the Yankees,” BT said. “Finally. Ironically, the day after I said they were broken.”

BT says the Yankees have become far too reliant on analytics to the point where the human element has been diluted in their approach, and a personality like Casey’s, who comes with years of playing experience, will help loosen up some of the hitters who have been slumping so badly since Aaron Judge went down with a toe injury.

“One of the reasons they’re in this ridiculous predicament…their player development is wretched,” BT said. “They don’t have the young guys to put around their stars like Judge. So they gotta go out and kick the tires on these veterans…the other reason, they seem to be a little more inflexible in how deep they are married to the analytics here.

“I’m so down on the Yankees, but I’m so up for this. He said you can’t produce cookie-cutter hitters…I think Sean Casey is going to come in here and have human conversations. He’s going to dumb it down to a way that is almost fun and invigorating for some of the older guys.”
