BT not letting historic night skew his Yankees perspective: 'They look old in every area'

Tiki was feeling confident in the Yankees after Domingo German pitched a perfect game on Wednesday, but BT wasn’t taking the bait after Tiki said the Yankees have as good a shot as any team in the American League to reach the World Series.

“I want the Yankees to win, but I’m also not a fool, and I’m definitely not a sucker,” BT said. “I’m not going for that little piece of the worm hanging off the shiny hook in the pond right now. I’ve gone for it before. You take a little nibble, ‘Oh, this looks good. Stanton looked good this week, DJ is on a hot streak, Cortes is an All-Star,’ and you bite down on the hook, and you get pulled up to the boat and they filet you.

“I’m just gonna be a little more prudent in my fish hook chase.”

Tiki noted that the Yankees are a dangerous team at full strength, but BT countered with the argument that the Bombers had nearly all of their big bats in the lineup during last year’s playoff run, had solid pitching from their rotation, and still were embarrassed in the ALCS.

“Last year, they were just impotent,” BT said. “Against the Guardians offensively, and against the Astros…it’s largely the same cast. Bader was a beast, Judge was there, Stanton was there, Rizzo was there.

“The Yankees had pitching last year. They didn’t have Rodon, but their pitching has largely been pretty solid for a while, and they’ve won nothing.”

BT didn’t want to be the “Debbie Downer,” as Tiki called him, but we wasn’t going to let one historic night skew his perspective, though he wanted to make sure German got his rightful praise.

“I watch this team every night. They’re boring as hell and they look old in every area,” BT said. “I don’t want to start the show this way. Domingo German was awesome last night. It was great. It was fun.”
