Derek Jeter opened eyes at Tuesday’s All-Star Game, saying the Yankees should go after Juan Soto if the Padres put him on the trading block, and BT absolutely loved the idea.

So much so, he declared that he would rather have Soto on the Yankees over Shohei Ohtani.

“If it’s Juan Soto, then you can kiss any prospects for Ohtani goodbye,” BT said. “And I am, for the Yankees, Soto over Ohtani.

“I don’t know if Shohei Ohtani wants to come to the Yankees.
I know Juan Soto has family in New York…Juan Soto, to me, brings something the Yankees are in desperate need of: a legitimate, young, ascending lefty thumper, and also addresses their most evasive need in left field. You put Soto in left field, Judge in right when he’s healthy, you have Bader in center. Best outfield in baseball.”

Tiki is on the complete opposite side of the spectrum. If Ohtani is available, there is no better option for any team, including the Yankees, than the best player in baseball.

“If you’re going to go after a Juan Soto, who you’re going to end up paying a ton of money, then we have to consider it’s either Juan Soto or Shohei Ohtani,” Tiki said. “To me, this is not even a conversation. If that is the option on the table for the Yankees…if you can go get Shohei Ohtani right now, or Juan Soto, it’s not even a question. You’re going to get Shohei Ohtani.”
