BT didn’t get to watch the Yankees collapse on Sunday afternoon, but he did enjoy hearing it happen.
Some may say that means he’s not a real fan, but BT says his pleasure in the Yanks crumbling means he’s the exact opposite.
“I’m the best fan,” BT said. “Because I’m a realistic fan.
“As much as that stunk, that was the absolute best thing. Because if this continues to happen, I don’t see, under any circumstances, how Hal Steinbrenner can look at this and evaluate this, and say ‘Yeah, I’m good.’ Keep this going, and they will clean house.”
BT has faith that an embarrassing collapse by the team will spark a desire in Hal Steinbrenner to make major changes, and believes those changes have to happen if the Yanks are to get the organization back on track.
If such changes don’t occur, BT isn’t sure that Hal Steinbrenner cares as much about winning as he should, though he believes Steinbrenner does care, and will make the necessary changes as a result of the team’s current freefall.
“I don’t believe this is true…but that’s the only answer,” BT said. “That he doesn’t care about winning.
“This simply can’t continue. This is an unmitigated, unfixable disaster. It is embarrassing, awful, and unacceptable.”
