C-Mac: Could Yankees make big trade splash for Vladimir Guerrero Jr.?

Anthony Rizzo has returned to the Yankee lineup after a short benching, but C-Mac is still convinced that the struggling veteran is going to wind up being used as a veteran bench bat or in a platoon role moving forward.

So, who would become the everyday first baseman? C-Mac pondered making DJ LeMahieu the full-time first baseman, but if Brian Cashman wanted to make a bigger splash, could he turn to a division rival to try and acquire a player who has openly ripped the Yanks in the past?

“If they feel like they’ve hit their limit with this…would the Blue Jays be willing to break this thing up and start anew?” C-Mac said. “I don’t think it’s that crazy.

“Vladimir Guerrero plays first base. Vladimir Guerrero, despite never wanting to play for the Yankees, I think would welcome being thrust into a playoff race…he has a year of team control after this year.

If you want to stack the deck, and bring in a major piece to change this lineup even further. If you want to add another impact, middle-of-the-order bat…I could see the Blue Jays be willing to break this thing up.”

Guerrero has openly said he would never play for the Yanks, but if the three-time All-Star is looking to contend, the Yanks would be the place to do it. But, even as Guerrero has a down year with seven home runs, C-Mac says the return package will be massive.

“This is Spencer Jones. This is Spencer Jones and Ben Rice,” C-Mac said. “This is a major, major haul to get Vladimir Guerrero Jr.”
